First 5G Call In India Tested At IIT Madras Using Domestically Created Technology

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, placed the first 5G call on a trial network put up at IIT Madras using domestically produced technology on May 19. The complete end-to-end network, as per the minister, was conceived and constructed in India. He claimed it was an attempt to demonstrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to a self-sufficient India.
