Assam CM Expresses Cocern Over Alarming Rate Of Teenage Pregnancies
Assam CM Hemant Biswas highlighted that 16.80% is the rate of teenage pregnancy in the State. The rates are a major alarming concern, especially with the rising number of child marriage cases registered in the State. Assam CM Participates In Event, Marks Closure Of Mission Basundhara
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in an event on May 8 to mark closure of the first phase Mission Basundhara and expressed gratitude to everybody. He said within the next few months they will try to find out the conclusion of the unresolved cases. CM also launched the project foe detailed survey of total 1,074 numbers of non-cadastral villages spread over various districts of the state.

Assam Government Issues Fresh COVID-19 Guidelines To Curtail Spread
The Assam Government, on January 24, has issued a fresh SoP amid COVID-19 surge and the Republic Day celebration. Night curfew will be imposed from 10 pm to 6 am and schools will remain closed for offline classes, continuing with the online classes. The gathering for Republic Day function will also be limited to a maximum of 1,000 people in the Kamrup district, without participation of school students.

Assam Medical College Gets Approval To Offer DM, MCH Courses
As good news for medical students of Assam, National Medical Commission approved Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirugiae (MCH) courses in Assam Medical College for 2021-22. Reportedly, AMC will now have 3 seats in DM cardiology and 2 seats in MCH paediatric surgery. ''We shall continue to work on strengthening medical education,'' tweeted Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam.

Renaming Orang National Park Is Political Vendetta: Assam Cong MP
As the Assam cabinet under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma decided to remove Rajiv Gandhi's name from Orang National Park, Congress leader Ripun Bora termed the move as ''Political Vendetta'' on September 3. Bora said, ''It reflects a lack of respect to a great leader who sacrificed his life for the country.'' He said the decision pained Assam's people and will derail the state from development's path.

Assam CM Asks Muslims To Take Steps Towards Family Planning
Delivering another controversial statement on June 10, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the Muslim community should take steps towards family planning to control the population. CM Sarma stated, "We can put an end to lot of social problems in Assam if the Muslim community adopts decent family planning norms." 1,040 Militants Surrender Before Assam CM Sonowal
Militants of five outfits, including PDCK top leader Ingti Kathar Songbijit and 1,039 others, surrendered in Assam on February 23. Songbijit, the former commander-chief of the banned National Democratic Front of Boroland, had been involved in massacres across the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts. Assam: Kaziranga National Park To Reopen After Eight Months On October 21
The Assam government has decided to reopen the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve for the tourists from October 21. However, the authorities have stated that only Jeep Safaris will be allowed owing to the current weather and road conditions. Reportedly, The state's CM Sarbananda Sonowal has been invited as the chief guest for the reopening ceremony on October 21. The National Park has been shut for last eight months.

Assam Introduces 'Kisan Rath' App To Assist Farmers
With an aim to promote agriculture market, Assam government on October 6 launched 'Kisan Rath' app. Reportedly, the app, developed by National Informatics Centre, will help creating a buyer-seller network that would assist farmers to sell their produce on time. Calling the app a "boon to growers of perishable fruits and vegetables", the state CM Sarbananda Sonowal said that the app will open up a nation-wide market for farmers.
