Assam Floods: People Seen Taking Shelters On Embankments & Highways In Nagaon, 10 More Dead In 24 Hours

People affected by the flood situation in Assam's Nagaon, were seen taking shelters on embankments and highways. The condition in Nagaon continues to stay grim, with more than 5.03 lakh people still affected. A total of 45.35 lakh people have been affected in Assam due to the floods. About 10 fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of casualties to 117, on June 25.

Assam Floods: Indian Army Starts Flood Relief Operations

To combat the flood situation in Assam, Indian Army's Gajraj corps, in coordination with Assam's civil administration has started flood relief operations from June 16. Parents Use Boat To Take Children To School: Assam Floods

In Assam's Dhemaji district, parents were seen taking their children to a primary school in boat, since the area has been flooded. A teacher of the school stated that there are about 29 students in the school, and due to the flood situation, some are not able to turn up. Reportedly, 2.88 lakh people have been affected in Nagaon, 1.22 lakh in Cachar and 1.07 lakh in Hojai.

Assam Floods: Amit Shah Assures Help From Central Government To Assam

Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured every possible help from the central government to Assam, on May 18. Nearly 1.97 lakh people in 20 districts of the state have been affected by the current floods and landslides. The water level of the Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger level mark at Neamatighat in Jorhat district and Kopili river in Nagaon district.

Assam Floods Update: 222 Villages Affected, 10,321 Hectares Of Crop Land Submerged

The grim situation in Assam is worsening as the loss caused due to the floodwaters is increasing. About 222 villages have been affected across 15 revenue circles. Around 10,321.44 hectares of cultivated land is submerged under floodwaters. So far, three people including a child has gone missing. SDRF, Fire and Emergency services are engaged in various rescue operations in the flood affected regions.

13 Animals Die Due To Flood In Assam's Kaziranga Park 

As per the Assam government, Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve have recorded 13 deaths due to floods that include 9 Hog deer, two swamp Deer, one python, and a Cap Langur. Meanwhile, three animals were also rescued. Reportedly, the Flood has impacted 950 villages in 21 districts of Assam, and the water level at Nimatighat, Dhansirimukh, and Tezpur are still a threat to people's lives.

Three Lakh Villagers Distressed Over Heavy Rain In Assam

According to Flood Reporting and Information Management System (FRIMS) report revealed on August 30, around 950 villages in 21 districts have been severely affected due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging. However, 44 relief centers, including 16 camps and 28 relief distribution centers have been created to assist 3,63,135 flood victims. Moreover, as of now, a total of 1,619 individuals have been staying in the relief camps.
