BSF Jawan And Assam Rifles Personnel Died In Encounter

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed and two Assam Rifles personnel injured in an encounter with suspected Kuki insurgents in Manipur's Serou. The exchange of fire between the two sides took place in a school in Serou area of Sugnu in Kakching district. A BSF official said suspected Kuki miscreants resorted to indiscriminate and heavy firing targeted at BSF troops deployed at the Serou Practical High School.

Assam Rifles Recovers 6,120 kg Areca Nuts From Mizoram's Champai

In Mizoram's Champhai, the Assam Rifles recovered 6,120 kg areca nuts worth Rs 26.19 lakh on March 5. The smuggling of areca nuts in Mizoram is a major concern, especially along the India-Myanmar border. "The operation was carried out by a team of 8 Assam Rifles and 11 Assam Rifles on specific information," said Assam Rifles. However, the customs department has seized the contraband items and further investigation is underway.

Bank Of Baroda Extends Services To Assam Rifles Personnel, Signs MoU

Bank of Baroda has reportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Assam Rifles, the country's oldest paramilitary force. Bank of Baroda will now provide its 'Central Forces Salary Package' to the personnel of Assam Rifles. The services will be extended to both retired and serving personnel. "We at Bank of Baroda are honoured to be able to serve the Assam Rifles", said Chief Defence Banking Advisor, Bank of Baroda.

Assam Rifles Recovers Rs 3 Crore Heroin From Mizoram's Champai

In Mizoram's Champhai district, the Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles on February 9, has seized 751.2 grams of heroin. According to an official statement by Assam Rifles, the heroin was recovered from Venglai village in Champhai district, the recovered heroin is worth Rs 3 crore. During the search operation done by Assam Rifles, the drugs were recovered by the battalion. Moreover, further details are awaited.

Assam Rifles Jawan Killed In Terrorist Attack In Manipur

In the Usoipokpi Sangomsang area of Manipur's Thoubal district, one Assam Rifles jawan succumbed to his injuries in a terrorist attack, on January 5. In addition, one jawan got injured in a suspected IED blast. Reportedly, the incident took place when a team of 16 Assam Rifles was patrolling the area. However, the government promised to give a befitting reply to the terrorists.

Assam Rifles Sets Up 47-feet Tall Christmas Star In Mizoram

Ahead of the Christmas, the Assam Rifles trooper erected a Christmas star, measuring 47-feet tall at Lunglei in Mizoram, said officials on December 13. The star is said to be the largest in the northeastern region. The Assam Rifles called it ''a beacon of hope with an aim to spread a message of togetherness for the local populace''. Notably, over six million Christians live in Mizoram, Nagaland, and Meghalaya.
