West Bengal is all set for vote counting on May 2 with 108 counting centers in 23 districts. The Election Commission has deployed 256 companies of central forces while enforcing strict COVID-19 regulations. Moreover, three-tier security has been set in place at counting centers where polled electronic voting machines and VVPAT units are stored. Reportedly, at least 292 observers have been appointed at the counting centers.

Giving another jolt to the incumbent West Bengal government, actor Yash Dasgupta joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on February 17. West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has announced the party will join hands with the Left parties to face the upcoming assembly polls. Adhir said, "Today the Congress High command has formally approved the electoral alliance with the Left parties in the impending election". Moreover, he has accused the Trinamool Congress of opening doors to BJP in the state, citing their coalition in 1999 Lok Sabha Polls.

Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has planned to conduct 600 rallies in the state, starting from November 22. The move aims to counter BJP's continued efforts to defeat the ruling party in the state. The rallies will bear the slogan of "Save Bengal from the BJP". The rallies will be followed by other campaigning programs in different languages of the region.
