ASSEMBLY SESSION

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 26 gave Syed Zafar Islam a Rajya Sabha ticket from Uttar Pradesh. Former banker Syed will be contesting for the seat, which fell vacant after the death of sitting member Amar Singh. The party leader Arun Singh announced that Syed's nomination has been accepted by the Central Election Committee. The by-election for the Rajya Sabha seat is scheduled on September 11.
