K'Taka Assembly Session Underway With Protem Speaker RV Deshpande
After forming the State Government in Karnataka, the Indian National Congress started its first K'taka Assembly Session. As of now, there is no finalisation of the Assembly Speaker, therefore RV Deshpande has been named as protem speaker of the Assembly. State Governor Thawarchand Gehlot administered the oath to Deshpande to hold the Assembly, which will be held til May 24. The Session started two-days after Siddaramaiah took oath as CM.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa Set To Resign, New Sri Lankan President To Be Appointed On July 20
The Sri Lanka Assembly Speaker confirmed the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, on July 13. Notably, Rajapaksa flew to the Maldives in a private chopper amid the ongoing protest over the worst economic crisis of the nation. However, before leaving, Gotabaya submitted his resignation, which will be officially announced on July 13. Furthermore, the new President of Sri Lanka will be elected on July 20.

BJP Leader Rahul Narvekar Elected As Maharashtra Assembly Speaker
BJP leader Rahul Narvekar has been elected as the Maharashtra Assembly speaker. On July 3, Navrekar won the Assembly speaker elections with 164 votes, including votes from non-BJP MLAs. Earlier today, the elections for speaker post kick-started. After the headcount, the BJP candidate beat Shiv Sena candida Yamini Jadhav. and was declared the speaker. With this victory, Rahul Narvekar has now taken the charge of the office.

TMC Leader Mukul Roy Resigns As PAC In West Bengal
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in West Bengal Assembly Chairman Mukul Roy submitted his resignation to Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee. On June 27, the senior TMC leader and MLA Roy said, "My tenure (as PAC chairman) was for one year and it is about to end soon. So I decided to resign." Notably, the speaker had appointed Roy as the PAC chairman in July last year.

UP Assembly Speaker To Be Elected On March 29
After Yogi Adityanath's oath-taking ceremony as CM, the BJP led UP Government will now elect the Assembly Speaker on March 29. The name will be announced during a legislature meeting, scheduled to be held in the UP Assembly Secretariat, at 3 pm. Nominations for the speaker will be filed till evening of March 28. Furthermore, the MLAs will also take oath from March 28, administered by protem speaker Ramapati Shastri.
