Lok Sabha Session Adjourned Till Monday Over Leaders Uproar

The ongoing Lok Sabha session of the Monsoon Parliament has been adjourned until July 24, Monday. According to sources, the session was disturbed over uproar by the opposition members, demanding a discussion over the recent Manipur Violence and sexual assault with the two women. In addition, the leaders also created ruckus over the silence of the BJP MPs. Following the drama at the parliament, the Speaker adjourned the session.

Punjab CM Demands Inclusion Of Chandigarh To Punjab State, Passes Resolution

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann urged the Central Government to immediately transfer Chandigarh to Punjab. In regard to this, on April 1, the Punjab Assembly passed a resolution and said, "for maintaining harmony and taking the sentiments of people into account, this House once again recommends to raise the matter with Central government to immediately transfer Chandigarh to Punjab". The issue is pending with the BJP-led Government.

8 CPI MLAs Carried Out Of Bihar Assembly For Creating Ruckus

In a chaotic incident at Bihar assembly on March 31, eight CPI MLAs were carried out of the assembly for creating "ruckus", by order of the speaker. According to CPI MLA Birendra Prasad Gupta, the government is trying to create a "Hindu-Muslim divide in the state". He further stated that the MLAs wanted a discussion on the issues they raised, which the assembly speaker refused.

BJP MLAs Protest Outside Assembly Demanding Nawab Malik's Resignation

BJP MLAs continued their sit-in protest outside the Maharashtra Assembly, demanding resignation of NCP leader Nawab Malik. Notably, Nawab Malik is an accused in a money laundering case in connection with fugitive Dawood Ibrahim. He is currently being investigated by the ED and is under custody. Although the Maharashtra Govt temporarily assigned new ministers for Malik's post, the BJP leaders are demanding his resignation.

Karnataka Legislative Assembly Passes Anti-Conversion Bill 2021

Karnataka Legislative Assembly passed the Anti-Conversion Bill, 2021, on December 23.  Named as "Karnataka Protection of Right To Freedom Of Religion Bill, 2021" was passed during the Winter Assembly session, with majority of MLAs in favour. Despite uproar from Congress, CM Bommai passed the bill, which prevent forceful conversion of religion. If violated, one will face imprisonment of five to ten years with Rs 25,000 fine to Rs 50,000.
