India's Atal Tunnel Enters World Book Of Records; 'World's Longest Highway Tunnel'
Border Roads Organization's spokesperson stated that Atal Tunnel has been officially certified as the "World's Longest Highway Tunnel" by the World Book of Records, London. The Atal Tunnel at Rohtang is 9.02 km long above 10,000 Feet which connects Manali with Lahaul. The tunnel offers 4G internet connectivity, with CCTV cameras at every 60 meters, and has been built at a cost of INR 3200 crore in the Himalayas.

Govt Introduces 'Green Tax' For Tourists Traveling To Rohtang Pass
In the latest development, Tourists crossing Atal Tunnel at Rohtang Pass in HP on September 10 will have to pay green tax. In order to develop infrastructure in ecologically fragile Lahaul-Spiti, the tax amount has been imposed. However, the tourists going to Kishtwar and Pangi will also have to pay the tax amount which varies from vehicle to vehicle. Besides, the regular traveler will be provided with a pass.

Himachal: Congress Warns of Protest if Sonia's Name Not Re-installed at Atal Tunnel
Himachal Pradesh Congress President Kuldeep Singh Rathore has reportedly warned CM Jairam Thakur of a state-wide protest after a plaque bearing Sonia Gandhi's name was allegedly removed from the Atal Tunnel.
