Neeraj Chopra Wins Gold Medal At World Athletics Championship

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army as well as prominent personalities congratulated athlete Neeraj Chopra for winning a historic gold in men's javelin at the World Athletics Championship 2023. Neeraj created history by becoming the first Indian to win gold at the World Athletics Championships. The athlete once again created history and brought glory to the nation.

Indian Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra on May 12 said that lack of international participation due to COVID-19 has disrupted his training for Tokyo Olympics. Eying for his first Olympic participation, Neeraj qualified for Tokyo games but COVID spoiled his preparation. In a virtual conference, Chopra said "If we cannot take part in competitions then what is the use of training. To rise to the Olympic level, you need international exposure."

Florida Athlete Became World's First To Win Ironman Triathlon Battling Down Syndrome

Floridian Chris Nikic became the first-ever athlete with Down Syndrome to finish an Ironman triathlon. The 21-year-old earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records after completing a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and full marathon in sixteen hours and 46 minutes. Nikic received applauds from social media after being inspired by his determination. He will be taking part in the 2022 Special Olympics in Florida.

American Sprinter Coleman Banned For 2 Years After Missing Drug Tests

AFI To Hold Elections During Annual General Meeting On October 31

The Athletic Federation of India (AFI) has scheduled the office bearers’ election for the term 2020-2024 on October 31 and November 1 during the Annual General Body Meeting in Gurugram. The federation had postponed the meeting from April due to the pandemic and did not hold online elections as they insisted on having elections 'in person'.
