Defence Ministry Orders 118 Advance Arjun Tanks From DRDO
To strengthen the Indian Army's defence capabilities, the Defence Ministry on September 23 placed an order to purchase 118 advanced versions of Arjun Tanks, MBT Mk-1A, in Chennai. The tank, developed by DRDO, is equipped with all-terrain mobility, invincible multi-layered protection, and can also work in day & night conditions. Reportedly, 118 tanks cost Rs 7,523 crore and the production of tanks will employ over 8,000 people.

Rajnath Singh Declares Import Ban on 101 Defense Items
Under Atmanirbhar initiative, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh announced a ban on 101 items to boost native production. "Prepared a list of 101 items for which there would be an embargo on the import beyond the timeline indicated against them,'' Rajnath Singh said in a tweet. Apple started manufacturing one of its flagship devices, the iPhone 11, at its Foxconn plant in Chennai. First time Apple is producing a flagship model in India.
