Atmanirbhar India initiative

To strengthen the Indian Army's defence capabilities, the Defence Ministry on September 23 placed an order to purchase 118 advanced versions of Arjun Tanks, MBT Mk-1A, in Chennai. The tank, developed by DRDO, is equipped with all-terrain mobility, invincible multi-layered protection, and can also work in day & night conditions. Reportedly, 118 tanks cost Rs 7,523 crore and the production of tanks will employ over 8,000 people.

Various sectors like manufacturing, healthcare and technology started adapting and re-aligning business models to be more self-reliant. Apple started manufacturing one of its flagship devices, the iPhone 11, at its Foxconn plant in Chennai. First time Apple is producing a flagship model in India. A huge success for the government’s Atmanirbhar India initiative. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal announced the news on Twitter on July 24. Apple also plans to manufacture the iPhone SE 2020 here.
