Myanmar Military Leader Becomes PM, Swears To Hold Elections By 2023
Six months after the coup, Myanmar's military leader and ruler Min Aung Hlaing, took over the governance declaring himself as Myanmar's PM until 2023. Myanmar Junta in February 2021 overthrew and captured the elected prime minister Aung San Suu Kyi seizing power from the civilian government and declared a state of emergency. Hlaing on August 1 promised that the country will hold a fair election in 2023.

Myanmar: Chin State CM, Thousands Other take Refuge In Mizoram
As many as 9246 including the CM of Chin State, Salai Lian Luai have been staying in Mizoram as refugees since February, said the Mizoram police. These people also include 24 lawmakers of Aung San Suu Kyi's party who have taken refuge after a military coup. However, the refugees have been provided food and shelter by civil society organisations, student communities & locals.

Active Protests Still Take Place In Myanmar Four Months After Coup
Democracy activists gathered on Myanmar streets on June 1 as the army and anti-junta militias indulged in fighting along the border areas. Anti-military protestors and young activists took to streets of Laung Lone and Yangon amid heavy crackdown by forces. Notably, even after four months, the military is still struggling to impose orders after the coup followed by arrests of Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior leaders.

Myanmar: Suu Kyi Appears In Court In Person For 1st Time Since Coup
Aung San Suu Kyi was produced before the court in person for the first time on May 24. Previously taken as a military prisoner, the ousted Myanmar leader was only allowed to contact her defending team via video calls. The hearing was focussed on the six charges she faced and two of them for violating COVID-19 norms during the election campaign, illegal use of walkie-talkies and unlicensed use of radio.

Myanmarese Turn To Coup-Themed Tattoos As New Form Of Silent Protest
People of Myanmar have resolved to a new form of protest against the ongoing military coup, as many are getting coup-themed tattoos inscribed on their bodies. Mizoram: Students, NGOs Raise Voice For Countrymen Stuck In Myanmar
