Maharashtra Govt Changes Names Of Aurangabad, Osmanabad & Navi Mumbai Airport

The Maharashtra Cabinet has given approval to change the names of Aurangabad and Osmanabad districts. Aurangabad has now been named as Sabhaji Nagar and Osmanabad as Dharashiv. Also, Navi Mumbai Airport's name will also be changed to DB Patil International Airport. The name change though has been long planned by the Shiv Sena government, the sudden move has definitely come as a shocker to many.

Spurious Liquor Claims Lives Of 2 In Bihar's Aurangabad; Over 70 Arrested

In Bihar's Aurangabad district, two lives have come to a tragic end after consuming spurious liquor, on May 24. Reportedly, the liquor was brought from Jharkhand and over 70 persons have been arrested in the case so far. Further details on the matter is Underway. The Nitish Kumar led state government in Bihar banned the sake and consumption of alcohol in 2016.

Nitin Gadkari Announces To Construct Rs 10,000 Cr Worth Aurangabad-Pune Expressway

Union Road Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari has announced an "access-controlled expressway" project in the state of Maharashtra, on April 25. The Rs 10,000 crore worth project will reportedly connect Aurangabad and Pune, and make the travel between the cities faster. Gadkari said that vehicles can cruise up to a speed of 140 kmph and the travel time will be reduced to 1.15 hours, against the current 4-5 hours.

6 Teenagers Consume Poison In Aurangabad, Investigation Underway

In Bihar's Aurangabad region, six teenagers (12-16-year-old) allegedly consumed poison, trying to suicide. Of the all, three died, two are out of danger and one is said to be in critical condition at Magadh Medical College, confirmed police on April 9. Although the actual reason behind the drastic step is yet to be known, villagers said it to be a matter of one-sided love. The police are investigating the matter.

Maharashtra Police Seize 37 Swords, Dagger From Courier Office

In Maharashtra's Aurangabad city, police seized 37 swords and a dagger from a courier company's office. As per PTI, on March 30, DCP Ujwala Vankar said, "We have come to know that these swords were brought from Amritsar and Jalandhar in Punjab. Reportedly, seven people from Aurangabad and Jalna placed orders for the weapons. No arrests have been made so far. The police registered a case and initiated the investigation.

Aurangabad Man Buys Horse To Commute Amid Fuel Price Hike

In Maharashtra's Aurangabad, Shaikh Yusuf uses a horse to commute to work amid rising fuel prices. Furthermore, Yusuf is a lab assistant at YB Chavan College and purchased a horse of Rs 40,000 by selling his bike. He has named his horse "Jigar'. "My expenses had increased because of the old bike and rise in fuel prices. Riding a horse is also good for health," Yusuf said.
