Delhi Transport Dept Approves Hike In Auto-Rickshaw, Taxi Charges; Awaiting Cabinet Approval
Delhi transport department has given its approval for an increase in auto-rickshaw and taxi charges of Rs 1.50 and Rs 15 respectively. The proposal is currently being considered for final approval by the Cabinet. The starting meter cost in autos will be increased to Rs 30, and each kilometer will be charged at Rs 11. Meter costs for AC taxis would rise to Rs 40, while non-AC taxis will rise to Rs 17.

19 Crude Bombs Found In Abandoned Auto-Rickshaw: West Bengal
In Kolkata, 19 crude bombs were seized from an abandoned auto-rickshaw near a children's home, confirmed police on April 23. As per PTI, the search was based on a tip-off, and after the raid found bombs. The officer said, "19 crude bombs, one country-made pistol and two cartridges were found in one of the auto-rickshaws". The official launched an investigation to assure if it is a terror plot.

Delhi Auto-Rickshaws, Cabs Call For Strike Amid Fuel Hike
In Delhi, auto-rickshaw, cab, and taxi unions went on a strike, demanding a CNG subsidy and a fare revision amid rising fuel prices, on April 18. As per PTI, the auto-rickshaw Sangh said, they will protest outside the residence of CM Kejriwal. Notably, due to fuel price hikes, commuters are facing difficulties, as cabs and autos are on strike, whereas Uber and Ola's prices are high due to demand.

Young minds of Dharwad started the 'Auto Raksha Foundation' to provide free auto-rickshaw services to women who travel at night, for their safety. After 10 PM, the service becomes accessible in Hubli-Dharwad, the twin cities of Karnataka. As per Auto Raksha Foundation, President Sunil, "Every day, we witness cases of rape and sexual harassment of women, especially during the night."
