The death toll in the Uttarkashi Avalanche tragedy has risen to 19 as of October 7. A team of mountaineers climbing the Draupadi Ka Danda-II mountain peak got stranded after an avalanche struck on October 4. Since then, rescue operations have been underway. Personnel from Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) are currently working in rescue missions.

A massive avalanche occurred in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand, behind the Kedarnath Dham on October 1. Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee president informed that no casualties were reported from the incident.
