Renowned Ayurveda Expert Balaji Tambe Passes At 8; PM Modi Condoles

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 11 extended condolences to the family of the 81-year-old Balaji Tambe, a renowned Ayurveda doctor who died on August 10 in Pune. Reportedly, Tambe dedicated his life to Ayurveda and Yoga died due to mild illness. Remembering his contribution to Ayurveda, PM tweeted, ''Dr. Balaji Tambe will be remembered for his numerous efforts to make Ayurveda globally popular, especially among youth.''

Ramdev Shares Akshay Kumar's Video To Back Claims Over Ayurveda

In another attempt to prove Ayurveda's supremacy, Baba Ramdev on May 31 shared a video of actor Akshay Kumar wherein he can be heard endorsing the traditional method. In the 2017 video shared on Twitter, Akshay had said that there is no illness "the traditional Indian medicine system does not have a cure for". Captioning the video, Ramdev wrote, "Yoga and Ayurveda is more powerful than any foreign chemical injection."

No Vaccination Needed, I Have Yoga, Ayurveda's Dual Cover: Baba Ramdev

Adding to his contentious statements, Baba Ramdev has now said that he did not need to get vaccinated as he was protected by dual cover of yoga and Ayurveda. "For decades, I have been practicing yoga and Ayurveda, so I didn't feel the need to get vaccinated," said Ramdev. The yoga guru recently raised 25 questions against allopathy, and prior to this he had called the practice a "stupid science".
