Former BJP Leader Babul Supriyo Joins TMC In West Bengal
In a surprising development in West Bengal Politics, BJP's deserter Babul Supriyo has joined Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the presence of the party's National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien on September 18. Tweeting the development, TMC said, ''We take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to him!" Supriyo, who represented BJP from Asansol as MP, had resigned on July 31 from the party.

Bengal's BJP MP Babul Supriyo Calls It Quit; To Focus on Social Service
West Bengal's BJP MP and former Union Minister Babul Supriyo have decided to exit from politics on July 31. On Facebook, Supriyo posted, ''Goodbye. I have listened to everyone my parents, wife, daughter. And after listening to them I can tell you goodbye.'' Union Min Babul Supriyo Tests COVID Positive, Not To Cast Vote In Asansol
Union Minister Babul Supriyo on April 25, through Twitter, announced that he and his wife have tested COVID-19 positive. Notably, the minister has tested positive for the second time. Expressing displeasure over missing the opportunity to vote in West Bengal Assembly elections on April 26, Supriyo tweeted, "V Sad that I won't be able to vote in Asansol." He added that he would be right by the BJP candidates "mentally".
