Vaishno Devi Yatra Resumes Following Brief Suspension Due To Bad Weather
Pilgrims will be able to return to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra, Reasi district, Jammu & Kashmir, on August 21. The yatra has been postponed since August 20 due to poor weather. Notably, the police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are already on the ground. The Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is keeping an eye on the issue.

J&K LG Manoj Sinha Advices Devotees To Visit Amarnath Before August 5 Due To Bad Weather Forecast
Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, advised all worshippers to visit the holy cave temple before August 5, noting unfavorable weather predicted. The Amarnath Yatra, which began on June 29, will come to an end on August 11, on the celebration of Raksha Bandhan. The Meteorological Department predicted the weather will worsen later.

Officials Suspend Amarnath Yatra Temporarily, Pilgrims Waits At Camps
Amid heavy rainfall and cloudbursts, Kashmir valley is witnessing bad weather, following which the concerned authority has suspended the 2022 Amarnath Yatra. On July 14, the yatra was temporarily suspended from Pahalgam as well as Baltal routes and no pilgrim was allowed to move toward the holy cave shrine. Earlier, the yatra was stopped on July 8, amid cloudburst, and resumed on July 11.

10 More Survivors Found & Rescued 3 Days After Cargo Boat Sank In Indonesia
In a latest development, 10 more survivors from the cargo boat which sank on May 27, have been found and rescued, on May 30. The survivors are reportedly in "good condition", and have returned home. The boat sank in Indonesia's Makassar Strait in South Sulawesi province, with 42 people on board, due to bad weather. Of the 42, about 31 persons have been found and rescued as of now.

Cargo Boat Sinks Due To Bad Weather In Indonesia; 17 Rescued, 25 Missing
A cargo boat carrying at least 42 people on board sank in Indonesia, while traveling from a seaport in Makassar to Kalmas Island in Pangkep Regency, on May 29. The boat sank due to bad weather, which is said to be common in the aforementioned region. About 17 people have been rescued, while 25 others have gone missing. Search and rescue operations have been initiated and further details are awaited.

Srinagar-Jammu Highway Blocked Due To Landslides & Shooting Stones
Srinagar-Jammu national highway on January 23 has been blocked due to landslides and shooting stones triggered by the prevailing inclement weather in Jammu & Kashmir region, said the officials. Besides that, Mughal road, Sinthan road, and Srinagar-Sonamarg to Gumri road also remains shut due to the accumulation of snow. Earlier, passenger Light Motor Vehicles were allowed by the authorities along the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

268 Flights Cancelled In 5 Days At Srinagar Airport Due To Poor Visibility
Amid poor visibility due to inclement weather, over 53 flights are being cancelled on a daily basis at the Kashmir's Srinagar airport for the last five days. A total of 268 flights were cancelled since January 4 including 134 from Srinagar to various destinations, airport spokesman said. Meanwhile, the disruptions have left travelers disappointed, especially tourists, many of whom have been stranded in the valley.

100 People Likely To Die After Wooden Vessel Sink In Congo River
The Democratic Republic of Congo's provincial authorities on October 9 said over 100 people are thought to have died or gone missing when their wooden vessel sank in the Congo River. Reportedly, 51 corpses have been discovered and ''another 69 are believed to be missing''. The cause of the incident is said to be ''overcrowding aggravated by bad weather'' that led to the sinking of the makeshift vessel.
