Delhi’s Mundka Fire Tragedy: Building Owner Files Revision Petition Challenging Order Denying Bail

In the ongoing investigation into the Delhi’s Mundka fire case, the building owner accused has filed a revision petition, challenging the order denying him bail. The petitioner had reportedly filed a bail application on the grounds that charge-sheet has not been filed. However, the application was rejected. The case pertains to a fire incident in Mundka area, on May 13, which killed at least 27 persons.

Bail Plea Is Right Of Every Prisoner, Says Allahabad Court

The Allahabad High Court has said that every prisoner has a fundamental right to file the bail application without delay. The single judge bench of Justice Ajay Bhanot was hearing a plea filed by Anil Gaur, an accused in a murder case. On September 15, the court granted bail to Anil, who could not approach the court as he was financially weak and abandoned by his family after his imprisonment.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s bail plea will be presented before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act court, on September 8. Raut is booked under the aforementioned Act, in connection to the Patra Chawl redevelopment scam. Raut is a close aide of former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, and is currently in judicial custody till September 19. ED arrested Raut in August 1, over irregularities in the said case.

UP Court Rejects Bail Plea Of Politician Shrikant Tyagi

A court in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar rejected the bail application of politician and suspended BJP worker Shrikant Tyagi, on September 2. The bail plea was rejected by Special Judge (Gangsters Act) Ranvijay Pratap Singh in the District and Sessions Court. Notably, Tyagi was arrested for abusing a woman at Omaxe Grand Complex. Lakhimpur Kheri Case: Ashish Mishra Moves SC For Bail, Challenging Allahabad HC Order

Mishra contended that there is no scope for him tamper with the evidence, since all 98 witnesses have been provided security. A Goa court rejected the bail plea of restaurant owner Edwin Nunes, accused arrested in BJP leader Sonali Phogat's death case. On August 28, the Goa court dismissed the petition and remanded Nunes and two others, drug peddlers Rama Mandrekar and Dattaprasad Gaonkar in five-day judicial custody.
