Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu Takes Charge as President of Kosovo
The new president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, was sworn in on April 4 for a five-year term. Winning 71 votes in the 120-seat parliament, Osmani-Sadriju was supported by the left-wing party 'Vetevendosje'. The 38-year old, already heading the country's foreign policy and armed forces, would now also be acting as head of the state. She has now become the second woman to lead the Balkan nation.
