For allegedly harming a 2-year-old girl with cigarette butts, a Chhattisgarh Police constable, named Avinash Rai, was arrested on October 31. The police said that the girl's mother had borrowed some money from Rai but failed to repay; hence, the accused tortured the girl. The police added that Rai forced the girl to call him "Papa". Calling it a heinous crime, The state DGP DM Awasthi ordered to terminate Rai from the police.
