40 Dalit Families Forced Out Of Village, Now Live In Bamboo Houses
Now residing in weak bamboo houses in Puri district's Nathapur village, 40 Dalit families were forced out of their village, Brahmapur, after they allegedly refused to follow a diktat. Their access to fishing was cut-off when they refused to follow a casteist wedding tradition. These bans eventually led to barring them from entering the village and riding ferry boats, the only access to mainland.
