'Bandhan Express' Train Services Between India & Bangladesh Restarts After Two-Years

The passenger train operations between India and Bangladesh restarted on May 29 after a two-year break due to the pandemic, with the flagging off of the Bandhan Express from Kolkata station on its route to Khulna in Bangladesh. The Bandhan Express will travel twice a week between Kolkata and Khulna. On May 29, the Maitree Express will also commence operations between Kolkata and Dhaka.

Tripura CM Asks Bangladesh-Based IT Firms To Invest In State

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has asked Bangladesh-based IT firms to invest in his state. While speaking at the very first edition of the Digital Bangladesh IT Summit. He stressed that technology-driven trade can help ease the bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries. "Bangladesh IT companies are welcome to invest in Tripura, and (to) take advantage of the incentives offered by the government," he said.

13 Illegal Rohingya Immigrants Apprehended In Jalpaiguri Railway Station: WB

Police have apprehended thirteen suspected illegal Rohingya immigrants from Jalpaiguri railway station in North Bengal, on April 24. The immigrants came to Jalpaiguri railway station in two groups- from New Delhi and Jammu, reported PTI. According to an official, the immigrants "were on the way to Rohingya camps in Bangladesh, via Assam and Tripura". Also, a case against the accused has been filed under The Foreigners Act.

Bangladesh Reports 1,116 New COVID Cases In 24 Hours

In the past 24 hours, 1,116 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Bangladesh, taking the overall tally to 1,592,209, with most cases recorded in Dhaka. Around 154 people recovered, while 19,275 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 5.79 percent. As per figures, the recovery rate is 97.39 percent, and the mortality rate is 1.76 percent.

30 Passengers Killed, Over 100 Injured On Ferry In Bangladesh

In a shocking incident, at least 30 people lost their lives, and over 100 received injuries due to a fire on a ferry in Bangladesh, on December 24. Reportedly, the launch was going to Barguna from Dhaka, carrying over 700 passengers. The incident happened on Sungandha River at Gabkhan-Dhansiri area in Jhalokathi. The injured ones were sent to Jhalokathi Sadar Hospital and Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Kauvery Hospital Successfully Treats Rare Movement Disorder: Tamil Nadu

Kauvery Hospital in Tamil Nadu's Chennai treated a rare 'Movement Disorder', on December 21. Reportedly, a 5-year-old Bangladeshi girl was mistakenly taking treatment for Myoclonic Epilepsy (a type of seizure with muscle spasm disease) for the last two years. However, the medical experts from Kauvery Hosptial found that she has a rare disorder namely Hyperekplexia. The new treatment will now help the patient to get recover soon.
