Bar Council Of India Approves Allows Foreign Law Practice In India

In a significant decision, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has opened law practice in India to foreign lawyers and law firms. The BCI, which had earlier opposed the move, notified on Monday the Rules for Registration and Regulation of Foreign Lawyers and Foreign Law Firms in India, 2022.A foreign lawyer registered under rules shall be entitled to practice law in India in non-litigious matters only…”

Aghast And Appalled Over Andhra CM's Remarks Against SC Judge: Bar Council

A 77-Year-Old Woman Approaches Supreme Court for Studying Law

A 77-year-old woman, Rajkumari Tyagi, approached the Supreme Court to permit her to pursue a three-year LL.B course. She challenged Bar Council of India (BCI) for prescribing an upper age limit of 30 years for the course. In her plea, she mentioned that BCI violated Articles 14, 19(1)(g) and 21 of the Constitution. Reportedly, Tyagi showed an interest in law after she solely defended the estate of her late husband.
