Tamil Nadu To Receive Heavy Rainfall From November 9-11: IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on November 9 predicted very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Tamil Nadu. Reportedly, a low-pressure area formed under the influence of cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal. It'll reach Andhra Pradesh on November 11. Besides, IMD predicted extremely heavy rainfall in Puducherry, and Karaikal between November 9 to 11. Fishermen have also been advised not to go into the sea.

India Starts Malabar Naval Drills With US, Japan & Austrailia

The second phase of Malabar naval drills among India, the US, Japan, and Australia has been started in the Bay of Bengal on October 12. The exercise will last for three-day and it is said to be important to build synergy, coordination, and interoperability among the nations. Notably, the first phase of the exercise was organised between August 26-29 on the Pacific Ocean island of Guam.

Bay Of Bengal On Low Pressure; Cyclone Alert For Andhra Pradesh & Odisha

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a cyclonic storm is likely to build up in the Bay of Bengal near the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in the next 12 hours. A notification alerting the states has been released on September 25. Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh, and the interiors of Telangana are predicted to witness heavy rainfall on September 25 and 26.

BrahMos Missile's Naval Variant Successfully Tested In Bay Of Bengal

In addition to the ongoing missile tests, the Indian Navy has successfully tested the naval variant of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile in the Bay of Bengal on December 1. The missile, which has been produced under the joint venture of India and Russia, has a range of 400 km and can fly three times the sound's speed. Moreover, the missiles can also be launched from submarines, ships and aircraft.

IMD Warns of La Niña Conditions; Cyclones and Cold Winters Expected

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that 'La Niña' conditions have set in. According to Director General of IMD, under these conditions, India might experience lower temperatures this winter and "higher frequency of intense cyclones" over the Bay of Bengal. Reportedly, a depression that has developed in north interior Karnataka is likely to move over to Maharashtra coast and intensify into a deep depression by October 16.

IMD Warns of Heavy Rains in Few States; Monsoon Withdrawal Delayed Till Oct 20
