Street Dogs To Not Be Removed From Streets Of Bangalore: Karnataka Animal Husbandry Dept

The Karnataka animal husbandry department has decided not to remove streer dogs from the streets of Bengaluru. Reportedly, after hearing from various residents of the city, BBMP has reversed its decision and decided to let the dogs be. However, the department has decided to vaccinate the street dogs for "infertility and against rabies". The department informed to vaccinate around 400 dogs a day.

BBMP Issues Show Cause Notice To 3 Engineers Over 'Substandard Road': Karnataka

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued show cause notice to three engineers involved in asphalting of a road, on June 24. BBMP called it a "substandard work", and demanded an answer from the engineers. BBMP stated, there are clips were the asphalts can be seen being removed by hand. The road in issue is the Mariyappanapalya main road in Bangalore University campus, which was laid "couple of days ago".

A lake conservationist in Bengaluru, Karnataka, urged on June 23 that silt from Gowdanapalya lake be disposed of in order to decrease pollution. Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had already begun restoring  Gowdanapalya lake. Bengaluru Makes Masks Mandatory In Public Places Amid Rising Covid-19 Cases

Due to a surge in Covid-19 cases in Bengaluru, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike made masks mandatory in public areas on June 6 and declared that coronavirus testing will be increased from 16,000 to 20,000 per day. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has stated that his administration would make numerous choices depending on the report in the coming days. "There is no need for anyone to panic," Bommai stated.

No Meat Sale On Ram Navami In Bengaluru

The  Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued a notice, asking all slaughterhouses, meat shops, and other such establishments to remain shut on April 10, marking the Hindu celebration of Ram Navami.  The Bengaluru Civic issued a notice regarding the same. Abiding by the orders of the Bengaluru Civic Body, one of the traders said, "We  will follow government orders and not conduct business tomorrow. Tomorrow is a holiday".

BBMP Shut Down Mantri Square Mall In Bengaluru; Property Tax Unpaid For 2 yrs

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) shut Mantri Square mall in Bengaluru for three hours on November 15. Property tax has not been paid for two years, according to BBMP, and has remained unpaid despite several notifications. The mall had been closed for the same reason only a month and a half before. It was opened on November 15 after the owners requested 15-day extension from BBMP to settle outstanding dues.

BBMP Plans New Rule; Agency That Digs Up Road Will Rebulid: Bengaluru

BBMP intends to implement a regulation requiring the agency that dug up the road to restore it. Currently, agencies need to get permission from the BBMP to dig up roads and pay a fee to cover restoration costs. Reportedly, The new regulation will increase transparency in the operation. Srinivas Alavilli of Janaagraha stated BBMP should also penalize entities who fail to repair roads within the specified time period.

Bengaluru Hospital Admits Insurance Scams Through Fake COVID Reports

In light of abusing the system, few private hospitals in Bengaluru admitted fake Covid patients during the first & second waves by producing false Covid reports. However, It was done to redeem hospital bills through insurance premiums. BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta said, "We acknowledge such instances with great concern. Nobody should be allowed to get away with this. We will initiate action against such hospitals".

50% Bengalureans Will Be Fully Vaccinated In 60 Days, Says BBMP Chief

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has said that BBMP will vaccinate at least 50% of the population in the city between 45 to 60 days. About 18% have received both doses, while 62% have received only one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. "If we vaccinate 90,000 people in a day it will be considered as 1% of the eligible population," said the commissioner.
