BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has announced that the junior players affected by the postponement of the IPL 2021 will be compensated in June-July. Besides, he also assured that the umpires and scorers "will all get their fees". Ganguly confirmed that the remainder of the IPL 2021 will not happen in India saying, "There are lots of organizational hazards like 14-day quarantine. This quarantine is tough to handle.”

The BCCI on May 7 stated that it will look for all the possible options to complete the 2021 IPL. An official informed that BCCI is yet to discuss on the offers from the English countries to host the remaining matches. BCCI treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal said "Right now, our immediate plan is finalise the preparation for the Twenty20 World Cup in India later this year."

The BCCI on May 7 announced the 20-member squad for the upcoming five match test series against England and World Test Championship final against New Zealand. Led by Virat Kohli and Vice-captain Rahane, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel Mohammed Shami and Hanuma Vihari has made comeback to the squad. Dropping Hardik Pandya due to injuries, the selectors announced to confirm KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha depending on fitness.

Appreciating BCCI for providing secure bio-bubble for the IPL players, former South Africa captain Graeme Smith stated that no South African player ‘felt at risk’ during their India stay at the now postponed IPL2021. Smith said, “The element of risk is always there and the organisers can't be blamed”. Meanwhile, all the 11 South African players who participated in the tournament have already left for Johannesburg.

BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla on May 4 announced that IPL is suspended due to players testing positive to COVID-19. He said that it is not cancelled and can be rescheduled later. The decision came along when Sunrisers Hyderabad player Wridihiman Saha and various other franchise members tested COVID positive. Former BCCI selector Kishan Rungta passed away at 88 on May 1 due to COVID-19. Rungta contracted the virus a week before his demise. He was admitted to a hospital in Jaipur. He served as a national selector from central zone in 1998 and played 59 first-class games between 1953 to 1970, scoring 2717 runs. The Rungta family has been well known in the Rajasthan cricket arena for almost five decades.
