IOC To Hold Meet With Peng Shuai In Sexual Assault Case Amid Winter Olympics 2022 

The International Olympic Committee will proceed with a meeting with tennis player Peng Shuai during the Winter Olympics. The player went missing in November 2021, after she accused Ex-Chinese vice premier, Zhang Gaoli of sexual assault on social media. ''We will talk with her and it is up to her to say what will be said. I can't give any more details on that," said IOC spokesperson Mark Adams.

Over 50 Athletes Test COVID-19 Positive Ahead Of Beijing Winter Olympic

Ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, 53 athletes from 12 nations, set to participate, tested positive for COVID-19 and are in isolation. Efforts like "zero COVID-19 policy" curbing local transmission by enforcing strict restrictions, seems to be in vain. In addition, due to the situation, at least 12 athletes were deprived to participate in the event. Notably, China announced to conduct COVID free 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Indian Envoy To Boycott Opening & Closing Ceremony Of Beijing Winter Olympics 2022

Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson of the MEA, on February 3, confirmed not to attend opening and closing ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. Disappointed with the torchbearer post, given to honour official commander involved in 2020 Galwan Valley clash, the Indian envoy decided to boycott the event. Taking a dig at the Chinese Government, Bagchi said, "Regrettable that China has chosen to politicise Olympics".

Athlete From Kashmir To Represent India In 2022 Winter Olympics

Arif Khan from Jammu and Kashmir is the only Indian athlete selected for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Khan, a 30-year-old, is an alpine skiier have been selected for two events, alpine skiier slalom and giant slalom. Arif became the first person to be selected in two Olympic events. Notably, Arif started participating in sports events since 2005, and represented India in 127 games. The Winter Olympics 2022 is scheduled in Beijing.
