Assam Woman Makes Handloom Products From Discarded Plastic

In a unique initiative, a 47-year-old woman from Assam is making traditional handloom products from discarded plastic waste. Living in Kaziranga, Rupjyoti Saikia Gogoi uses discarded plastic waste from Kaziranga National Park and nearly 35 villages to make colourful handbags, table mats, and doormats. Gogoi started the sustainable venture in 2004 and has trained over 2,300 women from all over the country for reusing the waste.
