BJP To Contest 92 Seats In Assam, Hands 26 For AGP, 8 For UPPL

The ruling BJP will contest in 92 seats of the 126-member Assam Assembly elections. Sealing the seat-sharing deals in the poll-bound state, the BJP has offered 26 seats to its ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and eight to the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL). The incumbent party has also planned to offer its symbol to the candidates of a local party. The north-eastern state will undergo three-phase elections on March 27, April 1 and 6.

Madhya Pradesh Government Reserves Public Jobs for State Citizens Only

On August 18, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that his government has decided to reserve public jobs only for the "children of the state". He also mentioned the necessary legal arrangements regarding this will soon get framed. The announcement implies that people of other state's domicile will not be able to apply for government jobs in MP. Reportedly, MP is the first state in India to do so.
