Congress Writes To US DOJ Over Criminal Summon In 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy
Twelve US members of Congress have written to the US Department of Justice (DOJ), urging to issue criminal summons to Dow Chemical Company in connection with the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy. The letter signed by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Pramila Jayapal, and Congressman Frank Pallone Jr, asked that the Dow Chemical Company — the key accused in the tragedy — respond to India’s repeated summons to appear in court.

No Additional Compensation For Bhopal Gas Tragedy Victims: SC
In a major drawback for Bhopal Gas Tragedy victims, the Supreme Court (SC,) rejected the Centre's curative petition seeking additional compensation from Union Carbide Corporation (UCC.) In the plea, the Centre demanded additional Rs 7,844 crores, over already paid $470 million, which claimed 3,000 lives and maimed thousands more. 60% Covid-19 deaths in Bhopal are victims of 1984 Gas disaster, Survivor groups Claims
Several Survivors groups of Bhopal-Gas-tragedy stated that over 60% of Covid-19 death in the city, are the victims of 1984 gas tragedy. In the last 15 days, six gas-victims with Covid-19 have died at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre, due to negligence at the isolation ward. The group says, they had warned authorities in the month of March that gas-victims are five-times more vulnerable to Covid-19 than others.
