Tata's Big Basket Acquires Kerala-Based Startup Agrima Infotech

Big Basket, a Tata enterprise has acquired Kochi-based startup Agrima Infotech's with the aim of revolutionizing the offline retail in the country. Reportedly, the Agrima Infotech has developed 'Psyight' which helps identify fruits and vegetables from their image without using barcodes. However, the acquisition was announced by Big Basket CEO Hari Menon at a two-day virtual ‘Huddle Global 2022, organised by the Kerala Startup Mission.

Tata Acquires Majority Stake Worth Rs 9,500 Cr In BigBasket

Tata Digital Ltd, a unit of Tata Sons, has acquired a majority stake worth Rs 9,500 crore in online grocery store BigBasket. Although the company refused to give further details, it reportedly had picked up 64.3% stake in the deal after securing an approval by the Competition Commission of India. As per sources, Tata is also planning on launching a "super app" to tie the conglomerates together.

Tata Group Plans To Acquire 68% Stake In Virtual Grocer 'BigBasket'

Data Of 2 Crore BigBasket Users For Sale On Dark Web, says Cyble

According to a cyber intelligence firm Cyble, the data of around two crore users of BigBasket, a digital grocery platform is on sale for around Rs.30 lakh on the dark web. The data includes their names, addresses, DOB, location, email Ids, and the IP address. BigBasket has, however, verified the data breach and has clarified that it does not record the financial information of its users, thus, the financial data is secure.
