India is set to enhance ties with Central Asian countries. India and Sri Lanka held their first virtual bilateral summit on September 26, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a grant assistance of USD 15 Million to construct Buddhist monasteries and "for the promotion of Buddhist ties between the two countries." Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran to build up bilateral cooperation. Describing the meeting as "productive", Jaishankar tweeted, "Discussed strengthening our bilateral cooperation and reviewed regional developments. Thank him for his gracious hospitality." The visit comes after Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met with Iranian Defense Minister on September 6.
