The National Green Tribunal has slapped notices to Rajasthan government and Environment Ministry on building grid sub-station and transmission lines in Jaisalmer's forests, a habitat to endangered Great Indian Bustard (GIB). Alleged of violating Forest Act, 1980 and Biodiversity Act, 2002, the tribunal sought responses from authorities within six weeks. The issue sparked after a GIB died after colliding with power lines. 

UN's Global Biodiversity Outlook 5 (GBO-5) report, to be released on September 15, has been leaked. The leaked report showed that none of the 20 'Aichi Biodiversity Targets' have been achieved. The GBO-5 suggested 8 reforms to achieve 2050 Vision for Biodiversity.
