Delhi Govt Bans Import Of Live Birds; Sends Samples For Testing

The Delhi Government on January 9 imposed restrictions on the import of live birds and introduced a 24-hour helpline. The announcement came in light of the bird flu outbreak across several Indian states. Though there are no confirmed reports of the flu in Delhi, the authorities have sent 104 samples for testing to Jalandhar as a precautionary measure. The decision was taken after over 100 inert crows were found Delhi’s Mayur Vihar.

Rajasthan Issues Bird Flu Alert Amidst Mysterious Bird Deaths

After deaths of about 300 crows, 50 peacocks, and 60 hens, the Rajasthan’s wildlife department has issued a bird flu alert in the state. Chief wildlife warden Mohanlal Meena has directed the wildlife officers to inspect the wetlands, as several migratory birds migrated during the winter season. While the samples of dead avian have been sent to labs, the wildlife division has asked to keep a vigil on animal habitats.

Japan Witnesses Critical Outbreak Of Bird Flu In Last Two Years

Being the first serious spread in the last two years, an outbreak of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) has been reported in Japan. According to the Japanese government, new Bird Flu cases have now been reported in a chicken farm at Southwest Fukuoka in addition to the cases reported in Kagawa. Government spokesman Katsunobu Kato on November 25 said, "Epidemiology experts plan to conduct an investigation regarding the route of infections,"
