A special MP/MLA court sentenced BJP legislator Vikram Saini and 11 others to two years imprisonment in a 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots case. On October 11, a Special Judge Gopal Upadhyay convicted them for rioting and other offences and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each. In addition, the court acquitted 15 other accused in the case for lack of evidence.

A political row erupted after a purported video of AAP minister Rajendra Pal Gautam at a "religious conversion" event went viral. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Dhamnagar constituency (Odisha) Bishnu Charan Sethi passes away on September 19 night. A Goa court rejected the bail plea of restaurant owner Edwin Nunes, accused arrested in BJP leader Sonali Phogat's death case. On August 28, the Goa court dismissed the petition and remanded Nunes and two others, drug peddlers Rama Mandrekar and Dattaprasad Gaonkar in five-day judicial custody. Furthermore, the Goa Government also said, they would approve a CBI investigation if needed. Notably, Sonali Phogat died in Goa on August 23.
Sonali Phogat's brother Rinku dismissed murder allegations on Haryana MLA Gopal Kanda's involvement in the BJP leader's MLA. On August 25, Rinku Dhaka said, "No there is nothing like that".
