1st Case Of Dangerous Yellow Fungus Reported In UP's Ghaziabad

India has now been hit by yellow fungus, as UP's Ghaziabad reported the first case on May 24. Considered to be more dangerous than black and white fungus, the proliferating cause of yellow fungus is being attributed to un-hygiene and high humidity. As of now, the known symptoms are lethargy, weight-loss, low or no appetite and can cause slow wound-healing, pus leakage, organ failure and body-cell decay.

Bihar Declares Black Fungus An Epidemic As Cases Reach 100 Mark

Doctor Says White Fungus Less Dangerous Than Black Fungus

Amid rising fear over black and white fungus, MD of Delhi's LNJP Hospital Dr Suresh Kumar has said that the latter disease, aka Aspergillosis, is less dangerous than the former. He stated early diagnosis of the disease is critical and advised to stay in clean surroundings and avoid eating refrigerated food. Besides, he advised consuming fresh fruits and vegetables and not taking steroids without prescription for treating COVID-19.

‘Black Fungus’ An Epidemic, Says Telangana Government

The Black Fungus (mucormycosis) disease, which is primarily affecting COVID-19 recovering patients, has been declared as an epidemic by the Telangana government. Accordingly, all the government and private hospitals have been advised to follow the guidelines issued by the Centre and ICMR for screening and treating the disease. The state had reported about 80 cases of Black Fungus as of May 18.

COVID-19: Black Fungus Cases In Recovered Patients Increase

Delhi's top doctors have observed a noticeable spike in the number of fungal infections, known as mucormycosis, among COVID-recovered patients suffering from ailments like diabetes, kidney, or heart failure. They urged patients to report symptoms like swelling in the eyes or cheeks and black crusts in the nose.
