BMC Issues Closure Notice To 210 Schools Threatening Closure
In shocking news, the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) threatened to close down 210 unauthorised schools in the city. The closure of schools will affect over 35,000 schoolchildren studying at these institutes. Students are facing an uncertain future as the BMC issued a notice to these schools, asking to acquire the necessary permissions or face closure. In the past also, the BMC issued a notice and shut down 62 schools.

Parel TT Flyover In Dadar To Remain Shut
Owing to repair works undertaken by the BMC, the Parel TT flyover bridge will remain shut from 11pm to 6am till May 20, said the Mumbai traffic police. A notification in this regards was issued by Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police (South) Gaurav Singh. The flyover, which is a major connect for commuters and daily travel is located in the region of Dadar and will remain shut.

BMC Mandates Mask Wearing At BMC Hospitals

BMC Razed Illegal Construction Of Studios In Maharashtra
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) undertook a demolition drive against the 'illegally built' film studios in the Madh-Marve area in Malad. The demolition started after the decision of the National Green Tribunal, which asked for demolition of the illegal construction. Of the total 11, five studios will be demolished, confirmed the BMC officials. Notably unlawful buildings worth Rs 1,000 crores were constructed.

Massive Fire Breaks Out In Oshiwara Furniture Market
In Mumbai, a massive fire broke out in Jogeshwari near the Oshiwara furniture market. Reportedly, 10 fire tenders have reached the spot and efforts to douse the blaze are underway. Furthermore, the BMC stated that no one has been injured yet and casualties reported. It is yet to be ascertained what caused the fire. Meanwhile, an activist claimed that the fire was caused by a cylinder blast.

Four-Storey Building Collapsed In Navi Mumbai, 1 Killed; Rescue Operation Underway
In Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai region, a four-storey building collapsed, at 10:30 pm, on October 1. The unfortunate incident killed one person, following which the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, City Police and fire brigade, rushed to the incident spot and launched a rescue operation, in the Bonkode village, Navi Mumbai. "About 32 people staying there had come out before the collapse, investigating underway," said Purushottam Jadhav.

BMC Seizes 2000 Kg Banned Single Use Plastic In Mumbai
In an inspection operation, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) seized more than 2,000 kg of banned plastic in the last two-and-half months. With this, a fine of Rs16 lakh from the shops and dealers using banned and single-use plastic was collected. Notably, the civic body revived the drive against banning plastic on July 1, and planned to inspect malls, supermarkets and shops, in a phased manner.

BMC Takes Serious Note Of Lumpy Skin Disease Amongst Cattles
Amid the spread of lumpy skin disease in cattle, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) adopted precautionary measures for animals. Notably, the BMC teams consisting of officers and employees will start visiting various cattle sheds in Mumbai, and issuing notices to cattle shed owners. The BCM officials will also see if cattle sheds are unclean and provide medical treatment to the animals found infected with the diseases.
