Massive Fire Breaks Out In Oshiwara Furniture Market

In Mumbai, a massive fire broke out in Jogeshwari near the Oshiwara furniture market. Reportedly, 10 fire tenders have reached the spot and efforts to douse the blaze are underway. Furthermore, the BMC stated that no one has been injured yet and casualties reported. It is yet to be ascertained what caused the fire. Meanwhile, an activist claimed that the fire was caused by a cylinder blast.

Four-Storey Building Collapsed In Navi Mumbai, 1 Killed; Rescue Operation Underway

In Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai region, a four-storey building collapsed, at 10:30 pm, on October 1. The unfortunate incident killed one person, following which the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, City Police and fire brigade, rushed to the incident spot and launched a rescue operation, in the Bonkode village, Navi Mumbai. "About 32 people staying there had come out before the collapse, investigating underway," said Purushottam Jadhav.

BMC Seizes 2000 Kg Banned Single Use Plastic In Mumbai

In an inspection operation, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) seized more than 2,000 kg of banned plastic in the last two-and-half months. With this, a fine of Rs16 lakh from the shops and dealers using banned and single-use plastic was collected. Notably, the civic body revived the drive against banning plastic on July 1, and planned to inspect malls, supermarkets and shops, in a phased manner.

BMC Takes Serious Note Of Lumpy Skin Disease Amongst Cattles

Amid the spread of lumpy skin disease in cattle, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) adopted precautionary measures for animals. Notably, the BMC teams consisting of officers and employees will start visiting various cattle sheds in Mumbai, and issuing notices to cattle shed owners. The BCM officials will also see if cattle sheds are unclean and provide medical treatment to the animals found infected with the diseases.

BMC Issues Notices To 8,437 Residents For Not Taking Action Against Mosquito Breeding

Notices have been issued to 8,437 residents, commercial establishments and societies in Mumbai, for not checking and destroying spaces that are responsible for mosquito breeding. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated legal action against 594 societies, and has collected over Rs 9,22,800 in penalties. BMC informed that in 2022, 2,315 cases of Malaria and 289 cases of Dengue have been reported in Mumbai.
