Ranveer Singh has announced to work with director S Shankar on the Hindi adaptation of Tamil movie Anniyan released in 2005. Produced by Jayantilal Gada, the shooting for Tamil psychological thriller is expected to begin in 2022. Mentioning Shankar as "one of finest talents", Ranveer said, "To lead a film like Anniyan is a dream come true for any artiste. It's undoubtedly a once-in-a-lifetime performance piece."
Son of late Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, Babil, will make a debut on big screens with Netflix original 'Qala'. Starring Bulbbul-fame Tripti Dimri, the movie will be produced by Anushka Sharma's Clean Slate Films. Directed by Anvita Dutta, 'Qala' is heartbreaking story of a daughter who craves for her mother’s love. Indian actor Farhan Akhtar has bagged a role in a Marvel Studios movie. Akhtar has relocated to Bangkok and has been associated with the cast and crew of the movie for the shoot. However, details regarding the movie have not been disclosed yet. Meanwhile, Akhtar's next project 'Toofan' has been slated for Amazon Prime Video release in May 2021. Actor Neha Dhupia shared a photo on April 4 of travellers flouting social distancing norms at the Delhi Airport. The day when India’s daily Covid-19 positive cases have surged over 1 lakh. Dhupia used her social media platform to urge people to take all the necessary precautions and to follow social distancing norms issued by the authorities. Around 45 crew members, including junior artists, on the set of Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Ram Setu' have tested COVID-19 positive. Subsequently, the shoot scheduled to start on April 5 has now been suspended to control the spread. Reportedly, over 100 people were tested as a precautionary measure. Earlier, on April 4, actor Akshay Kumar had tested positive for COVID-19 and was later admitted to Hiranandani Hospital, Powai on April 5.

The Second-wave of Covid-19 in Maharashtra is making the film industry worried as the increasing restrictions and night curfew have made the shooting of night scenes and following the shooting schedule difficult. Till now, three movie releases have been postponed. The postponement of theatrical dates shows that producers are not confident about getting the audience into theatres given the current Covid-19 situation.
