Daughters Doesn't Lose Right On Property Even If Given Dowry, Court

A Goa bench of Bombay Court reviewed a peition and gave a historic judgement, saying a daughter has rights on their ancestral property. The court said, even if a daughter is given dowry, she doesn't lose rights on the family property.The court declared that the Plaintiff has an undivided right in the same and permanent injunction restraining the Defendants from transferring or conveying the said property, in the peitition.

Supreme Court Suspends Bombay HC Orders Of Acquitting GN Saibaba In Maoist Link Case

In a special hearing, the Supreme Court (SC) suspended the October 14, orders of the Bombay HC acquitting ex Delhi University (DU) professor GN Saibaba in Maoist Link Case. On October 15, the SC bench reviewed a plea filed by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) challenging the Nagpur bench verdict. Notably, Saibaba and four others were convicted by a session court in 2017, for having links with Maoist case.

Bombay Court Refuses Exemption In Defamation Case Against Kangana Ranaut

In a set-back to Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, a local Bombay court refused to grant her permanent exemption from appearing before the court. Metropolitan court judge RR Khan said,  "Admittedly, the accused cannot claim permanent exemption as of right. The accused has to follow the established procedure of law and terms and conditions of her bail bonds". Notably, lyricist Javed Akhtar had filed a defamation case against Raut in 2020
