Uddhav Thackeray Led Shiv Sena Allowed To Hold Dussehra Rally: Bombay HC
In a relief to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena sack, the Bombay High Court allowed a Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, Maharashtra. On September 23, the HC also noted that the Mumbai civic abused power in the case and said, "We are satisfied that in this case the BMC has abused the power by rejecting the application citing another application." Moreover, the court also rejected Eknath Shinde's intervention plea.

Elgar Parishad Case: NIA Opposes Jyoti Jagtap’s Bail Plea, Says ‘She Was Spreading Illegal Activities’
In the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case, activist Jyoti Jagtap who was arrested has filed a bail plea in the Bombay High Court. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) claimed that Jagtap was spreading activities of the banned “terror group” CPI (Maoist) in urban areas. NIA further contended that Jagtap has been trained to use weapons and explosives in case of a combat, and is an active member of the group.

Bombay HC Expresses Concern Over Rising Tribal Deaths Amid No Access To Hospitals
Concerned about the rising number of deaths in Palghar, the Bombay High Court took a note and expressed concern. On August 18, the HC bench said, “We are really concerned about why the deaths are not coming down." The statement was made after a report came about a tribal woman losing her twins on way to a hospital for delivery, as there was no access to hospital and doctors.

Bombay HC Orders To Demolish 49 High-Rise Buildings Near Bombay Airport
The High Court of Bombay has directed the Mumbai Suburban District Collector to ensure the demolishing of 48 high-rise buildings, due to violation of height norms. The order was pronounced while hearing a PIL filed by Advocate Yashwant Shenoy over the dangers of increasing high-rise buildings near the Mumbai International Airport. Advocate Shenoy also claimed that he has worked extensively on aviation safety issues.

Sameer Wankhede Files Plea Challenging Dismissal Of Liquor License
Sameer Wankhede, the former zonal Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) director filed a petition in the Bombay HC. In the petition, Wankhede informed that the State Excise Commissioner has dismissed his appeal challenging a Thane Excise Collector's order. Notably, The Excise Collector cancelled the liquor license of his restaurant and bar in Navi Mumbai. Previously, in February, Sameer Wankhede filed a plea, which was rejected on June 16.

Late Jiah Khan's Mother Files Petition In Bombay HC Demanding Further CBI Investigation
Rabia Khan, mother of late Bollywood star Jiah Khan, has filed a petition in Bombay HC, appealing the ruling of a special Central Bureau of Probe (CBI) court dismissing her request for a new investigation into her daughter's murder. Khan filed a petition with the HC, asking for the trial court's judgment to be overturned. Despite wanting to undertake a further investigation, CBI did not contest the special court's ruling.

Bombay HC Declines Bail Pleas Of Malik, Deshmukh To Vote In MLC Elections
The Bombay High Court on June 17 denied Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik's requests for interim release. NCP Leaders Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik had applied for interim release in order to vote in the forthcoming MLC elections on June 20. The High Court on June 10 denied Malik any immediate relief, stating that the context of his appeal was for bail.

It's Women's Choice To Work Despite Education Qualifications, Says Bombay HC Judge
Education qualification shouldn't be the only reason, forcing a woman to earn living. On June 11, the Bombay HC judge Bharti Dangre stated this while reviewing a man’s plea challenging the lower-family court's orders, which asked him to pay Rs 5,000 maintenance to his estranged wife in a Domestic Violence pending case. Dismissing the man's plea, Justice Dangre said, " It is a woman's choice to work."
