BRO Constructs World's Highest Motorable Road In Eastern Ladakh
At 19,300 ft in Umlingla Pass of Eastern Ladakh, the Border Road Organization (BRO) has constructed and black-topped the 'highest motorable road' in the world. The 52-km Asphalt concrete road will connect important towns in the Chumar sector of Eastern Ladakh and an alternate direct route connecting Chisumle and Demchok from Leh. Rajnath Singh Inaugrates 44 Bridges; BRO To Build 40-50 More in Ladakh
Union Minister Rajnath Singh on October 12 inaugurated 44 bridges constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) across seven states and Union Territories. The Director General of BRO informed that the organisation will go three times its capacity this year and Ladakh will get about 40-50 bridges within a year. He further opined that this would fuel economic growth, improve tourism and help in movement of our forces.
