The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) responded to the "mental harassment" allegations of boxer Lovlina Borogohain. "Boxing Federation of India ensured that Sandhya Gurung was at the training camp in Ireland. BFI is closely working with IOA so that Sandhya Gurung could be a part of the team in Birmingham," said BFI on July 26. Furthermore, the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports intervened and directed necessary arrangements.

He expressed special gratitude to Freddie Roach, his long-time trainer, whom he regarded as "a brother and a friend". "It is difficult for me to accept that my time for me as a boxer is over," said Pacquiao.

President Ram Nath Kovind praised Lovolina Borgohain for clinching bronze in the women's welterweight category (64-69Kg) on August 4 at Tokyo Olympics. Pugilist Lovlina Borgohain bags bronze, India's second medal at the 2020 Olympic in the 69kg Woman's Welterweight boxing on July 30, following Mirabai Chanu's Silver medal in the Woman's Weightlifting. Borgohain won the quarter-finals defeating the former world champion Chen Nien-Chin of Chinese Taipei. However, she has become the third to win the medal and will next fight for the silver in the semi-finals.
