BFI Responds To Mental Harassment Allegations Of Lovlina Borgohain
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) responded to the "mental harassment" allegations of boxer Lovlina Borogohain. "Boxing Federation of India ensured that Sandhya Gurung was at the training camp in Ireland. BFI is closely working with IOA so that Sandhya Gurung could be a part of the team in Birmingham," said BFI on July 26. Furthermore, the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports intervened and directed necessary arrangements.

Haryana Boxer Nitu Ghanghas Eyes Boxing World Championship 2022
Nitu Ghanghas, a 21-year-old boxer from Haryana is eying to participate in the upcoming 2022 Boxing World Championship, scheduled in May. Notably, she won the Strandja Boxing Tournament (under 48 kg category), held last week in Sofia. Now, Nitu wants to focus on the world championship and work on strengths/weaknesses with her coaches and said, "I want to put my full focus on it and win gold there (world championship)".

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury called out UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou after Ngannou's successful title defence against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270. After Ngannou's win, Fury posted, "Congratulations Ngannou, but if you want to make some real money come see the Gypsy King". Ngannou had earlier stated that boxing is something he's been wanting to do for a while now, and that his career would be incomplete without it.

Manny Pacquiao Announces His Retirement From Boxing
Boxer Manny Pacquiao announced his retirement on September 29 after a spectacular decades-long career in the ring. In the 2022 elections, the Filipino superstar intends to run for president. 4 Indian Boxers Qualified For Semi-Finals In Asian Youth Championship
Following the day of mixed results, four Indian boxers have advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Youth Boxing Championship in Dubai. It's the first time that both junior and youth boxers (both genders) will compete in the continental championship. In the quarterfinals on August 23, seven Indians stepped into the ring, and four of them succeeded. In the youth category, the gold medallist will be awarded $6,000.

President Ram Nath Kovind praised Lovolina Borgohain for clinching bronze in the women's welterweight category (64-69Kg) on August 4 at Tokyo Olympics. He posted on Twitter saying, "Congratulations to Lovolina Borgohain! With your hard work and dogged determination, you have done the nation proud. This will be inspiring to many young women". Borgohain won bronze after being defeated by Turkey's Buzenas Surmeneli at the Olympics.

Tokyo Olympics: Boxer Lovlina Borgohain Clinches Bronze In Semi-Finals
Lovlina Borgohain of India clinched bronze after dropping a unanimous decision to top seed Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey in the Women's welterweight semi-finals on August 4. Borgohain was defeated 0:5 in the first round and was outthrown by Surmeneli in the final round. After Vijender Singh and Mary Kom, Borgohain is the third Indian boxer to have won an Olympic medal in boxing.

Pugilist Lovlina Borgohain bags bronze, India's second medal at the 2020 Olympic in the 69kg Woman's Welterweight boxing on July 30, following Mirabai Chanu's Silver medal in the Woman's Weightlifting. Borgohain won the quarter-finals defeating the former world champion Chen Nien-Chin of Chinese Taipei. However, she has become the third to win the medal and will next fight for the silver in the semi-finals.

Tokyo Olympics: Boxer Mary Kom Out Of Tournament After Her Defeat
Six-time world champion and a bronze medal winner from the 2012 London Olympics MC Mary Kom departed from the Tokyo Olympics after she lost to Colombia’s Ingrit Lorena Victoria Valencia in pre-quarterfinals women's 51kg. Reportedly, the 38-year-old boxer clinched a win two out of the three rounds. "It is a disappointment but that's luck I guess", said her coach Chhote Lal Yadav, who is also Kom's personal trainer.
