Haryana Boxer Nitu Ghanghas Eyes Boxing World Championship 2022

Nitu Ghanghas, a 21-year-old boxer from Haryana is eying to participate in the upcoming 2022 Boxing World Championship, scheduled in May. Notably, she won the Strandja Boxing Tournament (under 48 kg category), held last week in Sofia. Now, Nitu wants to focus on the world championship and work on strengths/weaknesses with her coaches and said, "I want to put my full focus on it and win gold there (world championship)".

4 Indian Boxers Qualified For Semi-Finals In Asian Youth Championship

Following the day of mixed results, four Indian boxers have advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Youth Boxing Championship in Dubai. It's the first time that both junior and youth boxers (both genders) will compete in the continental championship. In the quarterfinals on August 23, seven Indians stepped into the ring, and four of them succeeded. In the youth category, the gold medallist will be awarded $6,000.

Tokyo Olympics: Indian Boxer Satish Kumar Loses In Quarterfinals

Indian heavyweight boxer Satish Kumar was ruled out of the Tokyo Olympics Men's Super Heavyweight category after losing to the three-time Asian champion and World's No.1 Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan 0-5 in the quarterfinals on August 1. So far, India has secured one medal in the 2020 Olympics in boxing. Jalolov is set to face Britain's Frazer Clarke in the semi-final.

Boxam International: 3 Indians Pull Out of Finals Due To COVID-19

Three Indian boxers had to withdraw from the 35th Boxam International Tournament finals in Spain, due to the COVID-19. Reportedly, after the Olympics qualifier, boxer Ashish Kumar tested COVID-19 positive, following which his roommates Mohammed Hussamuddin and Sumit Sangwan also had to withdraw from the finals.
