CM Bhupesh Baghel's Father Arrested For Hate Speech Gets Bail
Nand Kumar Baghel, father of Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, got arrested on September 7 for allegedly uttering disrespectful words against the Brahmin Community at a public event. However, he obtained bail on September 10 and the court remanded him in custody for 15 days. Reportedly, Nand Kumar spent three nights behind bars. CM Bhupesh said, "nobody is above law in my government even if he's my father".

Suresh Raina Receives Backlash For His "Brahmin" Comment During TNPL
Suresh Raina received backlash on Twitter recently for his comment "I am also a Brahmin" when asked about him embracing the Chennai culture during the TNPL commentary. The former Indian cricketer who hails from Uttar Pradesh was asked the question given his appearances in a veshti. Many netizens felt that the CSK player's answer, “I think, I am also Brahmin. I love the culture" was brazen and insensitive.

Karnataka Govt Removes Textbook Content Hurting Brahmin Sentiments
The Karnataka government on December 17 ordered the Commissioner for Public Instruction to remove a section from the Class 6 Social Science textbook on account of "hurting Brahmin sentiments". Earlier, the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board had objected to a passage that accused Brahmins of food scarcity during the Vedic period.
