Breaking! BJP Announces 1st List Of Candidates For MP, Chattisgarh Poll
The BJP on August 17, announced the first lists of candidates for Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh due later this year. This is the first time the BJP has announced the names of candidates even before the Election Commission of India announces the poll dates. The party has announced 21 candidates for the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly and 39 for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh House.

Income Tax Department Raids Premises Of Kalpataru Builders
The Income Tax Department on Friday conducted raids on premises linked to the Mumbai-based Kalpataru builders over alleged tax evasion. The raids were conducted on around 30 premises across four states. Significantly, the residences of Kalptaru group founder Mofatraj Munot and MD Parag Munot were also raided by the tax department. Ban On Import Of Computers & Laptops, Govt Issues Notice
India has restricted imports of laptops, tablets and personal computers with immediate effect, according to a government notice on August 3. A notice issued in this regard read, "Their import would be allowed against a valid licence for restricted imports." The notice further read, "The said Restriction shall not be applicable to Imports under Baggage Rules, as amended from time to time."

Rs. 2000 Note Withdrawn From September 31
RBI issued a circular stating, the Rs 2000 note will continue to be withdrawn from denomination in effect from September 30. The bank also asked the state banks and other banks to exchange the notes of Rs 2,000 denomination until September 30. The sudden announcement would create panic amongst people, who will now rush to exchange their notes. Notably, at a time only Rs 20,000 could be exchanged at banks.

Arjun Ram Meghwal Replaces Kiren Rijiju As Law Minister Of India
