BMC To Illuminate Public Places, Emphasising On Mumbai Beautification Project

Maharastra's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has laid special emphasis on lighting bridges, skywalks, gardens and beaches in its Mumbai Beautification project. Mumbai Municipal Corporation Repairs 15,000 Potholes In Just 30 Days

In just one month, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) repaired over 15,000 potholes.  On August 14, the BMC said, 22,988 road craters have been filled, especially in Andheri West, which remained the most affected by potholes.  Due to the monsoon weather, Mumbai roads were filled with potholes, causing water logging areas.  The work has been done with the tender of Rs 7 crores, for better roads, ahead of the Civic elections.

IT Concludes 3-Day Raid At Shiv Sena Corporator Yashwant Jadhav's Premises: Maharashtra

Income Tax raids at the premises of Yashwant Jadhav, a Shiv Sena leader and sitting Chairman of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Standing Committee Chairperson, concluded on the morning of February 28. The raids started three days ago, on February 25, confirmed IT officials. Notably, the IT officials seized documents, assets, laptops and interrogated the Shiv Sena corporator.

No Illegal Or Commercial Activities In House, Says Narayan Rane After BMC Notice

Union Minister Narayan Rane, on February 18, received notice from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) over his house. The BMC furthermore inspected Narayan's residence. He stated that the bungalow was constructed in 2009 by famous architect, following 1999 Development Control Regulations, assuring no illegal or commercial activities. Rane also said that eight of his family members stay in the house.

Maharashtra Govt To Revive Electric Iconic Double Decker Bus In City

Mumbai is expected to introduce electric double decker buses in the City. Notably, approximately 900 AC double decker buses are being procured by Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST).  Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Aditya Thackeray said, the state government led by Shiv Sena will revive the old iconic double decker bus in Mumbai. Aditya took to Twitter and said, "The BEST double-decker now Electric!"

4 Member Committee To Probe Mumbai Fire Incident: BMC

To investigate the January 22 fire incident of Mumbai's Kamala building, the State Government, formed a four member committee. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said, the investigation will be headed by a deputy municipal commissioner level officer. The report of the probe will be submitted in the next 15 days. Mumbai Schools To Reopen From Dec 15: BMC Commissioner

Mumbai is set to reopen schools for classes 1 to 7 on December 15. Iqbal Singh Chahal, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner also issued the notice for the same. Schools for junior classes will reopen after approximately 20 months, amid the Omicron threat. In 2020 March, schools were shut down due to the nationwide lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, Mumbai currently has 5 Omicron positive cases.

Mumbai BMC Collected 58 Crore Fine For Violation Of COVID Protocols

At a time when the government's expenditure has increased due to Covid-19, Mumbai's civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has collected more than Rs 58 crore through fines. However, a fine of Rs 200 was charged if failed to wear face-mask. The latest report of BMC revealed on June 23, it collected 58 crore so far of which Mumbai police and Railways collected 7.6 crore and 50 lakh respectively.

Non-Slums, High-Rise Buildings In Mumbai Contribute 90% COVID Cases

A recent study by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has suggested that high-rise buildings and non-slum areas contribute to over 90% of the COVID cases in Mumbai. Reportedly, of the total 87,443 active COVID-19 cases (as of April 16) in the city, 79,032 cases have been reported from high-rise buildings while slums logged only 8,411 cases. Interestingly, Mumbai's slums were the worst-hit during the first wave of the pandemic.
