Outgoing Wrestling Federation of India Chief and six-time BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been accused of trying to control the federation through proxies. Although he has clarified that none of his family members filed nomination to contest the elections, it is said 18 of his supporters today filed nominations for the upcoming WFI elections. Despite sexual assault harassment allegations, the BJP MP is re-electing for the position.
A day after the country’s top wrestlers announced a plan to launch an indefinite hunger at India Gate, the Delhi police cordoned off the memorial and barred public entry to the lawns. The wrestlers said they will intensify their protest and sit on hunger strike until death, demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the WFI President. The wrestlers also gave a five-day ultimatum to the GoI, demanding action.
